Success can be relative and seasonal
Success can be relative and seasonal.
Sometimes it means little or nothing outside of its circle of influence. And it is fragile when its circle of influence disappears.
Have you ever asked yourself, what happened to that movie star from the 90’s? What happened to that senior executive that won all the political battles at two companies ago? What happened to that influencer I used to follow 5 years ago? Seems like many of those people sometimes disappear from the face of the earth.
The reality is that influence, success, and power come and go. Whoever is number one today, may be number 10 or number nothing tomorrow.
This is a message for people who often stay under the radar or behind the scenes to let others lead and shine, but they actually have so much to share with the world.
The great philosopher, Jim Carrey ; ) once said that every human is a masterpiece in need of constant restoration.
We need to continue reinventing ourselves to stay relevant in an ever-changing world. However, we also need to remember that our work is not the same as our worth.
Inside of us there is inner greatness. Inside of us there are dreams that we had since we were little, but for some reason, at some point in time, those dreams faded away because life got in the way.
It takes courage to realize that we can still dream and accomplish new goals regardless of the circumstances.
The faster you get comfortable being your full, authentic, and imperfect self, and the faster you start iterating on constant experimentation of your dreams, the more you will be able to keep that spark of excitement in your life.
That spark is key to help you feel like your personal success is more constant than your relative and seasonal corporate career.
The world is waiting for you to share your gifts and talents. You might as well start now.
